From Palm Jumeirah to Mayfair: the case for a single point of oversight

The clients we work with typically hold residential interests across more than one market. A principal residence in London or Geneva. A seasonal property in the Gulf. A development project or investment acquisition in a market they do not know as well as they would like.

The conventional approach to managing these interests is fragmented: a local agent in each market, a project manager for each active development, a lawyer for each transaction. Each relationship is managed separately. Each professional is incentivised around their own scope.

This model has a structural weakness that becomes apparent over time. When a client is acquiring in Dubai and managing a development in London simultaneously, the decisions in each market affect the other, in terms of capital allocation, timing, management bandwidth, and risk exposure. A fragmented advisory structure has no visibility across these dependencies, and no incentive to create it.

A single point of independent oversight changes this. Not by replacing specialist local knowledge, local legal, technical and market expertise remains essential, but by providing the client with a consistent, unconflicted perspective across their portfolio of interests. Someone who understands the whole picture, coordinates the specialist advisers, and ensures that decisions in one market are made with awareness of their implications in another.

For private clients with assets or projects in both the Gulf and European markets, this kind of integrated representation is not a luxury. It is the difference between a portfolio that is actively managed and one that is merely administered.

Anglo Mashreq works with private clients to acquire and develop prime and lifestyle property in the UAE, the UK and beyond.
